This calculator requires the use of Javascript enabled and capable browsers. The purpose of the calculator is to determine the inductance of a spiral flat primary coil. Enter then number of turns in the coil, one half of the coil radius (also called average radius) and the width of the coil. Click on Calculate to get the results. A sample 14 turns, half radius of 3 inches and a width of 12 inches yield an inductance of 11.307692307692308 microhenries. The radius should be measured from the center of the coil to the center of the exterior wire or tubing. The width (diameter) should be measured from side to side. The coil has the general look of a heating element on an electric range.
