This calculator requires the use of Javascript enabled and capable browsers. This calculator is designed to give the allowable daily calorie input for males, (see our calculator for females) based on the data entered. Enter your height in feet and inches. If you are exactly 5 feet or 6 feet tall, put a 0 in the inches box. The results could be interpreted or calculated incorrectly if you leave the inches box empty. Enter your weight in pounds; enter your age in years. Select your daily activity environment. Click on the Calculate button. You may Clear Values for another entry. (The lower calculator is for metric entry.) Obviously, if you are trying to lose weight, you must use more calories than you take in. The best way and the accepted way for weight loss is to lose weight over a long run, making slight intake reduction changes and slight increases in calorie burning. See our BMI (body mass index) calculator for general information. See these calculators for more information on the ideal body weight for males, or females. For the safest possible weight loss information, see your doctor.
The medically accepted formula for determining your target heartbeat range and maximum heartbeat rate is 220, less your age, yields the maximum heart rate. 59 to 66 percent of that for mild exercise, 67 to 73 percent for medium exercise rate and 73 to 80 percent for active exercise. It is the same for males and females. See our Calories Burned Calculator For Various Activities to determine what kind of calorie consumption you can expect from exercises, sports or just daily life.
