## Calculate and Accumulate Board Feet and Optional Cost

This converter requires the use of Javascript enabled and capable browsers. This calculator is to determine the total number of board feet for 5 groups of specific sized boards, based on the formula (((Depth in inches x Width in inches) / 12) x Length in feet). The board totals must have a length in feet; decimals are OK. Each field must have a value in it, even if the value is "0"; "0" is the default for all and at least one MUST be changed. Leading zeros do not effect calculations. Each board total has a given width in inches and a depth, also in inches. For instance, 6 total feet can be entered as 6 in the feet field of 2 x 4s. If no other entries are made, that will yield a total of 4 boardfeet. If you wish to know the total cost of the boardfootage, and you know the cost per boardfoot, enter that value in the price field (as for example 1.25 for a dollar and a quarter per board foot) and a total cost will be calculated in dollars and cents. Individual totals are at the bottom of the page. The Reset button assigns default values to all fields and clears the totals. A value of NaN in any of the totals fields is an error message and indicates an improper entry in one of the factors. To calculate random boards of various sizes (by definition only) defining width, depth, quantity as well as length, use our Boardfeet Calculator. To convert a number of boardfeet to lineal feet, use our Boardfoot To Lineal Foot Converter.
