Broadband TCP/IP RWIN Calculator
This calculator requires the use of Javascript enabled and capable browsers. This script is designed to calculate the required TCP receive window size (RWIN) for Windows operating systems. The value in Windows is a general value for dial-up systems and altering that value, if you have a broadband connection, can improve overall system performance. This calculator provides a value that is then system patchable using the registry editor. We, as do Microsoft support staff members, state that using the registry editor is risky business and should only be done by those experienced in systems editing. In this calculator, bandwidth is your advertised (download) speed. Latency (delay) should be the system large packet ping time. Results are provided using the exact value and the generally accepted value of 1.5 and 2 times the latency value. Enjoy!
