Piston Speed Calculator

This calculator requires the use of Javascript enabled and capable browsers. This calculator is designed to calculate the speed on an individual piston within the engine (in feet per minute (FTM), based on the stroke of the engine and the measured (current) engine RPM. Entry is in inches for stroke. The engine stroke can be used to describe different things, but in this case it is the distance the piston has to move in it's cycle. If you wish to input the stroke value in MM or get more and different designations for the calculation, see our Piston Speed Calculator - Universal Entry. The formula for this calculation is the stroke x 2 x RPM / 12.
