Level 6 Secure Text
Encode and Decode
This converter requires the use of Javascript enabled and capable browsers. This script creates an encryption and decryption algorithm that allows for reasonably secure (level 6) coding and decoding. No Javascript routines are totally secure. This is adequate for passwords, messages, corporate information and the like. It is not secure enough for government encryption, according to the standards they use. However, if you choose to use YOUR OWN KEY, or generate a key (which makes it level 6), it is probably MORE SECURE than government encryption in most cases. For an even higher level of security, you may use another of our routines to encrypt under a particular code and then encrypt again with this routine. However, you must decrypt in the reverse order, using the same 2 utilities, with the same Keys. If you plan to do that, test your Keys and messages prior to actual use. You may also use this routine twice, changing the Key the second time.
There are five steps involved with this utility. Put in a Key Phrase for encryption by typing or pasting it into the field; you may also generate a key after selecting the type of key factor. (You may also just use our default Key.) Enter or paste the text to encode into the text area below; any reasonable amount is acceptable as the text area does expand. Chose the encryption factor for the text. Select the Click on Encode. You may ALWAYS decrypt or decode the result, now or later, so long as you know the Key or Key Phrase. The Key or Key Phrase may contain up to 80 characters, including spaces or special characters. Assuming you wish to use your own, remember what it is or you will not be able to decrypt the information. Please be aware that with early generation browsers, this script can have erratic and unstable behavior. We suggest the use of Internet Explorer 5, 6 or 7, though many other browsers work fine.
