Speaker Decibel Power Change Calculator

This calculator requires the use of Javascript enabled and capable browsers. This calculator is designed to give the total amount of decibels change you can expect with a gain of wattage from different speakers. Enter the data and click on calculate. Decibels can also be a benchmark of amplifier power, or the combined output from various numbers of loudspeakers. The summary is that the first 200 watts is the most important in real life applications and that addition or alteration thereafter produces proportionate but diminishing returns. It makes a much bigger live difference to go from a 100 watt amplifier to an 500 watt amplifier, than it does to move up from a 1000 watt bank of amplifiers to a 5000 watt bank of amplifiers, though the decibel change is the same. The first application would be very obvious while the second would hardly be detectable.
