An Adventure Game Simulation
You are a humble computer engineer with a reasonably good reputation in your field. But times have been tough since the electricity was cut off in California; not a lot of computer work without power. Your field now is the plowed under backyard that you are farming. By necessity, you have been forced into being a farmer in a small Southern California village, just to keep your family in groceries, Pepsi and Bon-Bons. Recently, strange monsters have been abducting your fellow villagers. Being basically non-aggressive by nature, you try not to get involved until your own house is attacked in the middle of the night. You even let the truck radio thefts go without too much to say. But now this is war; this is personal! They also took the Pepsi! During the invasion, you gallantly attempt to fight them off but are knocked unconscious (a cheap shot, no doubt) and go down for the count. When you come to, you discover another couple of details. Your family is missing and your backyard farm is destroyed. You consider momentarily the benefits of solitude but quickly come to your senses. You go to look for help but soon realize that you are the only one left in the village. Either your deodorant is failing or everyone else has been captured. It reminds you of the computer industry's Customer No-Service Department in the days since the stock market crashed; when it comes to help, you are all by yourself. So you set out to discover the source of this evil and try to restore your life to the way it once was. How touching! Your Boy Scout training quickly comes to mind and you are on your way! You begin your journey by clicking on Search. As you encounter enemies, you can either continue to search or you may attack each one individually. Your STATUS is monitored constantly and should be considered in the decisions you face. You can continue to attack any enemy until you are victorious, at which time you achieve some reward; or you can back off in the middle of a battle. You become more vulnerable at that time but that may be worth the risk if you are in danger of being done in. (Not every attack is answered by the enemy. Sometimes they just run and you get no response or reward.) You may buy items that you may need at either of the two GENERAL STORES. Items are offered in the display windows. Your Inventory, however you have obtained it, is also displayed for you. Walk softly and carry a big stick!!!

Tips - Don't eat yellow snow. Drive safely. (Good advice but not applicable here...) Save your money for later in the game when very important items become available. Some items must be purchased in order to win the game. Don't shop 'till you drop but there are certain things you need. Just as in life, choose your opponents and battles wisely. You do not have to fight every opponent. Remember that every time you search, you risk hitting a trap or being robbed. Life is full of bumps in the road. You have to pick yourself up and keep going; you can't always call AAA. Keep your chin up but don't make it a target. An important thing to remember in life and in this game is, "If you can hit an invisible monkey, then you can hit anything." OK, so maybe you don't have to remember it in real life... Good Luck!
