This calculator requires the use of Javascript enabled and capable browsers. This script calculates the future value of a one-time, single amount investment, typically a certificate of deposit or CD. Enter the dollar amount invested using just numbers and the decimal. Next, enter the number of years of the term of deposit. Next, enter the published interest rate you expect to earn on that investment. Finally, select the compounding frequency. Click on the Calculate button and the effective yield, value at maturity and interest will be returned. The value at maturity and interest amounts are rounded to the nearest dollar. You may click on Clear Values to do another calculation. This calculation does compounding depending on whether the interest paid is monthly, quarterly, annually or semi-annually. Effective yield is the actual return on the deposit. It depends on the rate of interest and the frequency of compounding.
