This calculator is designed to convert an entry in feet into both feet and inches. The results are the total of feet and inches, not an answer in feet and an answer in inches. Why is this a tricky conversion? If you're doing some math on a measurement in feet, and you come up with 1.6 feet. How many inches is .6 feet? It's not 6 inches!
There are 12 inches in a foot. So .6 Feet = .6 * 12 = 7.2 inches! This calculator works by first truncting the decimal portion of the feet by forcing it into an integer. To get the inches portion of the conversion, we take the ft * 12, (ft. in inches including the decimal) and mod it by 12. (feet in inches) % 12 = fractional portion of feet in inches. Cheers!
